About Joanna Bogle (Principal Guide on the Catholic History Walks)

Joanna Bogle, who leads the Catholic History Walks, is an author, journalist, and broadcaster. She has a degree in Theology and a great love of London.

Her books include various historical biographies, including a book on the life of St John Paul II. She is also the author of ‘A Yearbook of Seasons and Celebrations’ with ideas on celebrating the traditional feasts of the Christian calendar.

Joanna and her husband Jamie, a barrister, have lived in London for most of their married life. She is a former London borough councillor and her fascination with London’s history came through discovering the local history of the area where she grew up in South London.

This is one of the world's greatest cities – and for me it is also home” she says “I have been walking along by the Thames since I was a little girl, and there is always more to learn and discover. Come and enjoy it all with me!

Joanna writes here about Bl John Henry Newman's connections to Richmond, where we often walk to his childhood home.
